About the role
We are seeking a Discipleship Pastor who will help lead our mission of making disciples in the Wesleyan/Methodist tradition. The Discipleship Pastor will work closely with the Lead Pastor, church staff, and lay leaders to strengthen and expand the church’s disciple-making ministries. This position blends pastoral leadership, teaching, small group development, and multigenerational ministry coordination. The right candidate will bring a passion for helping people grow spiritually and connect deeply within the body of Christ.
Key Areas of Responsibility
1. Pastoral Leadership
• Partner with the Lead Pastor to pursue the mission and vision of the church.
• Collaborate in preparing and leading worship services; preach regularly (30–40% of Sundays).
• Assist in leading the sacraments and special services (weddings, funerals, Holy Week, Christmas Eve, etc.).
• Develop and deliver engaging, Christ-centered teaching.
• Build authentic relationships through mentoring, pastoral care, and discipleship.
• Participate in staff meetings and help cultivate a healthy team culture.
• Support ministry communications and visibility through church and social media channels.
2. LifeGroup & Discipleship Ministry
• Lead and grow the church’s LifeGroup ministry, rooted in the Wesleyan Class Meeting model.
• Equip and mentor LifeGroup leaders to foster spiritual formation and community.
• Create an environment of transformational discipleship that connects belief with daily living.
• Evaluate and refine the structure of LifeGroups to encourage participation and outreach.
3. Multigenerational & Family Ministry
• Collaborate with staff and volunteers to maintain cohesive multigenerational discipleship.
• Provide oversight and support for children’s and student ministries currently led by volunteers.
• Offer guidance, resources, and encouragement to families for discipleship.
• Support planning and execution of church-wide events that build fellowship and outreach.
• Assist in welcoming and integrating people into the church community.
4. Community Outreach and Connection
• Serve as a leader of local community outreach to other groups and organizations to fulfill our mission.
• Facilitate and foster community service through LifeGroups.
Qualifications
• A vibrant, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and alignment with the mission and values of Christ Wesleyan Church.
• Bachelor’s degree in theology, ministry, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Ordained or pursuing ordination in a Wesleyan/Methodist denomination.
• Successful ministry leadership experience.
• Strong preaching, teaching, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and administrative ability; attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with social media and digital tools.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with flexibility, initiative, and discretion. • A heart for disciple-making, community building, and serving others.
